"Carry each others' burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Galatians 6:2

Stephen Ministry is a confidential, one-to-one care giving ministry. Everyone faces periods of crisis, transition, or difficulty. During these times, a caring relationship with someone who will faithfully listen, empathize, pray with them and for them, and encourage them with Christ's love and care can be a tremendous benefit.

Stephen Ministers are trained lay people within Hope's congregation who have received over fifty hours of specialized training. After an initial interview, a Stephen Minister may be assigned to a care receiver with whom he or she will meet weekly to encourage and walk with the person through a difficult season of life.

Stephen Ministers can provide spiritual support and guidance through life circumstances such as:

  • Loss of a loved one
  • Long term illness
  • Hospitalization or recovery after an accident
  • Divorce or separation
  • Loneliness or discouragement
  • Unemployment
  • Aging
  • Relocation
  • Miscarriage
  • And other personal crises
